Cross-training in sports and fitness refers to the combining of exercises to work various parts of the body. Often one particular activity works certain muscle groups, but not others; cross-training aims to eliminate this.

In mixed martial arts and self defense applications, cross-training refers to training in multiple martial arts or fighting systems to become proficient in all the phase of unarmed combat. This training is meant to overcome the shortcomings of one style by practicing another style which is strong in the appropriate area. A typical combination involves a  striking-based art such as  boxing, combined with a grappling  based art such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Many hybrid martial arts can be considered derivatives of such cross-training.

Modern mixed martial arts training generally involves cross-training in the different aspects and ranges of fighting and fitness. To be superior one must train superior!

December 1 & 2  is the Silver Gloves Tounament for 8 – 15 year olds. The State Open Championship is for 17-34 year olds. This is in Terre Haute, Indiana. Cross Training Workouts

Cross training workouts provide better physical fitness benefits, and prevent the boredom which sets in by performing one type of exercise continuously.

Cross training is great fitness training for people who are bored with their usual workout routines. One can add different fun exercises to their workout routine, which can be aerobics, swimming, dance workout routines, etc. Each type of exercise has it own benefits, but when you are cross training using different exercises you will gain more benefits. Also, people suffering from any injuries or those who get injuries often due to their workout routines should consider cross training, because, there is a reduced possibility of injuries in these workouts.
